They've helped us so much this first year, as well as in preparation for this first year, and I don't know if we would have made it this far without them.
So, I decided to make a picture memory book for them using Walmart's photo Web site.
My goal is to show Caleb's progress by using a photo from each day that I took pictures. I think it's going to turn out well.
Last night, as I was scrolling through 10-months worth of pictures, I was amazed at how much our little boy has changed in such a short time. In the beginning, he looked like a shriveled, mini-man. And I can point out at what point he started looking like Caleb — May 5. I took some pictures of him in a little baseball onesie while he swung his arms and kicked his feet on his play mat. He smiled slightly for one of the pictures. So cute!

My new goal for the year, and the many years to come, is to take pictures of our little family every day. Everything progresses so quickly, and pictures are one of the few ways we can make our memories tangible. We can go back and relive that moment for a second.
Here's one of my favorite pictures ever. It's from Erin's engagement party – this was before I drank 900 glasses of wine.

Oh my goodness. Pictures from that time in my life haunt me.
ReplyDeleteOn a more positive note, wasn't it the best when he smiled at you for the first time? When Rhys smiled for the first time I just stood there, bending over him, trying to get him to do it again! It was one of the best days of all time.
Marina, I think these pictures highlight your fierce determination. You've been through such a wonderful transformation!
ReplyDeleteBaby smiles are the best. The first smiles are so special because they take so much effort.
